EU-Whistleblower Directive
The European Parliament passed the Directive on the protection of whistleblowers (2019/1937) on 07.10.2019. According to the Directive, companies must essentially adapt to the following innovations:
2. Clear guidelines for the concrete design of reporting systems
It must be possible to provide such information in writing, by telephone or in person. Whistleblowers must be informed within one week of receipt and within three months of the follow-up action taken in response to their report. The reporting system must ensure confidentiality of their identity is upheld.
